Beryllium Copper Fingerstock Gaskets

Beryllium copper fingerstock is the established solution for sealing the gaps around frequently accessed doors, panels and access covers in shielded enclosures. The material’s combination of high electrical conductivity, mechanical spring memory and fatigue resistance makes it well suited to applications where the gasket is compressed and released repeatedly over a long service life.

We supply BeCu fingerstock gaskets in a wide range of profiles, sizes and mounting configurations, suited to shielded room doors, Faraday cage doors, MRI rooms, EMC chamber access panels and equipment cabinet doors.

Mounting Styles

Copper Fingerstock 2

Stick-on and Clip-on Mounting

Stick-on mounting uses double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, applied to a clean, oil-free surface and allowed to cure for 24 hours before the joint is put into service. Clip-on mounting clips over an accessible flange and accommodates a range of flange thicknesses without fasteners or adhesive, making it a practical option for retrofitting to existing enclosures.

Snap-on and Rivet Mounting

Snap-on mounting suits bidirectional applications and installs without tools, making it a practical option for removable panels and access covers. Rivet mounting provides the most permanent mechanical attachment and is typically used where long-term reliability in a fixed installation is required, such as on shielded room door frames.

Plating Options

Gaskets are available in bright and clean finish, tin-plated, nickel-plated, silver-plated and gold-plated options to address galvanic compatibility concerns and meet the contact resistance requirements of specific applications. All material is RoHS compliant. Standard strip length is 406mm with custom cut lengths available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What applications is BeCu fingerstock most commonly used in?
Shielded room and Faraday cage doors are the primary application, where the gasket must seal a perimeter gap reliably across many thousands of open and close cycles. It is also widely used on MRI shielded room doors, EMC chamber access panels and equipment cabinet doors.

How does fingerstock compare to knitted wire mesh gaskets?
Fingerstock excels in high-cycle applications because the spring memory is built into the metal itself. Knitted mesh gaskets offer a wider compression range and suit larger or more irregular gap profiles. The two products complement each other and the choice depends on gap tolerance, compression force and expected cycle count.

Can strips be cut to custom lengths?
Yes. Standard catalogue length is 406mm. Custom cut lengths are available on request.

Beryllium Copper Fingerstock Gaskets
Beryllium copper (BeCu) is the preferred alloy for EMI contact gasket applications because it sustains its mechanical spring properties under repeated cycling better than stainless steel or phosphor bronze alternatives. Our fingerstock gaskets are available in a wide range of cross-section profiles and sizes, with four mounting styles to suit different installation scenarios: stick-on, clip-on, snap-on and rivet. Plating options include bright finish, tin, nickel, silver and gold to address galvanic compatibility with mating surfaces. Standard strip length is 406mm with custom cut lengths available. RoHS compliant throughout the range.
