EMI Shielding Copper Foil Tape

Conductive adhesive tapes are a practical solution for sealing joints, covering apertures, grounding cable screens and providing supplementary EMI shielding in enclosures and test setups. We supply copper foil tape, aluminium foil tape and conductive fabric tape, all with pressure-sensitive conductive acrylic adhesive that maintains electrical continuity through the bond layer.

Custom widths and thicknesses are available across the range.

Product Types and Specification

Copper Foil Tape

The standard choice for most EMI shielding applications. The copper carrier provides high conductivity in both the foil and the adhesive layer, with horizontal surface resistance of 0.06 ohms per square inch or below measured at 25x25mm. Copper backing thickness is 0.025mm, adhesive layer 0.035mm, giving a total tape thickness of 0.06mm (all plus or minus 10%). Operating temperature range is -10 to 120 degrees Celsius. Standard widths from 5mm to 100mm. Standard lengths 30m, 33m and 50m.

Aluminium Foil Tape and Conductive Fabric Tape

Aluminium foil tape is a lighter-weight alternative suited to applications where weight is a constraint or where the substrate material makes aluminium a preferable galvanic match. Conductive fabric tape provides the shielding performance of a metallic tape in a flexible, conformable format suited to curved surfaces and irregular geometries where a rigid foil carrier would crack or delaminate.

Standard Sizes and Custom Options

Standard widths: 5, 6, 6.35, 10, 12.7, 18, 20, 25, 30, 50 and 100mm. Standard lengths: 30m, 33m and 50m. Standard total thicknesses: 0.06, 0.08, 0.1 and 0.11mm. Custom widths and thicknesses are available to order. Tape should be stored in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. Quality assurance period is six months from manufacture. In low-temperature conditions, bring the tape to approximately 20 degrees Celsius before application and use within three hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the adhesive layer itself conductive?
Yes. The acrylic adhesive is conductive, meaning electrical continuity is maintained through the bond rather than relying on mechanical edge contact only. This matters for applications where the tape needs to carry a ground path across the full bonded area.

Can custom widths be ordered?
Yes. Both width and thickness can be specified to order. Contact us with your requirement and we will confirm availability and lead time.

Is this tape suitable for use in RF shielded rooms?
Yes. It is commonly used for maintenance sealing of joints and for commissioning work in shielded rooms and chambers. For structural shielding applications it is a supplementary measure rather than a primary construction material.

EMI Shielding Copper Foil Tape
Our conductive tape range covers copper foil, aluminium foil and conductive fabric, all with pressure-sensitive conductive acrylic adhesive for continuous ground path across the bonded area. Copper foil tape achieves surface resistance of 0.06 ohms per square inch or below and operates across a temperature range of -10 to 120 degrees Celsius. Standard widths run from 5mm to 100mm across eleven sizes, with lengths of 30m, 33m and 50m. Custom widths and thicknesses are available to order. Used across shielded room maintenance, chamber commissioning, enclosure seam sealing and cable screen grounding applications.
