About Pendulum Instruments and Detectus
Pendulum Instruments is a test and measurement manufacturer with operations in Sweden, Poland, the United States and China. Its range covers frequency counters and analysers, frequency and time references, high voltage linear amplifiers and, most relevant to EMC engineers, Detectus EMC scanners.
Detectus is a Swedish company that has supplied EMC scanners since the 1990s and became part of Pendulum Instruments in July 2020. Its SCN series brings high resolution, repeatable near field scanning to design and quality teams, so emission problems can be found and fixed long before a product reaches the test house.
A failed compliance test tells you which frequency failed, but not where the noise is coming from. An SCN scanner moves a near field probe over the device under test in a precise, repeatable path, and the Detectus Scanning Software (DSS) combines every position with the spectrum measured there. The result is a colour map that pinpoints emission sources at board, component or even chip level.
NTD Connection
NTD Shielding supplies Pendulum Detectus EMC scanners, and an SCN series scanner is available from our demo pool so you can evaluate it before committing to a purchase. We can advise on the right scan table size, probe kit and options for your products, and on how a scanner fits alongside your existing spectrum analyser and pre-compliance setup.
Why Detectus SCN Scanners
- Step sizes down to 0.1mm to pinpoint emission sources in densely packed designs
- Scanning up to 10GHz with Pendulum probe kits, with 3GHz or 6GHz kits as standard
- 4D scanning: 3D movement plus probe rotation, finding the worst case angle at every point
- Drivers for 100+ spectrum analyser models, so you can use the analyser you already own
- Four models, with scan areas from 200 x 100mm up to 600 x 400 x 300mm
- Options including a laser distance meter, immunity software and a shielding tent
- SCN series scanner available to evaluate from the NTD demo pool
